Hi, I am getting a Hypertherm 380 Plasma cutter and would like to know if anyone can tell me if this cutter will cut 1/4 inch mild steel with any problems? I do artistic welding and usually cut 1/4 mild steel the hard way hack saw and other primative methods. I need to know if this cutter is going to have any problems cutting through 1/4 inch steel? Cyberlink Media Suite Essentials Dell Center. Will cutting anything thicker than say 1/2 be a problem? I really don't think I will need to go any thicker than 1/2 mild steel.
I had to start somewhere got a good deal on this cutter and hope it is going to do the job till I can buy a bigger cutter. Any help will be greatly apperciated. I also will need to buy a larger compressor. Any suggestions on a brand and the psi requirements needed for a cutter this size. The manual is rather vague on the actual size tank needed.
I have looked at a few and seem to think a 60 gallon should do the trick not sure if I need to buy a 3 hp or something larger as far as horse power goes. Again thanks for any help in this matter.
