Alliance Rom Galaxy Note

Links - - - - Welcome to . There are tons of ROMs out there for the Galaxy S5, and available. This makes the process of picking a ROM quite confusing, with so many options and often, or even the. UPDATE - I've created an - please add/edit there. How much does the choice of ROM matter if I'll be installing the anyway? Some notes: • modifications to the SMS app (SecMms) are irrelevant because the default SMS app doesn't support per-contact notification options, so I'll be installing Handcent, which does. • shutter sound menu in Camera settings - I keep seeing this.

What's the point? The default TouchWiz camera has a shutter sound toggle. • the following ROMs have been excluded from the comparison table: • - CyanogenMod + some features. (fingerprint, heart rate sensor).

• - claims 'insane battery life', but other than that, not compelling at all. • - apparently only for the Sprint S5 • • • • •.

I've been running Xtrestolite for a month now. It's pretty rock solid. Granted I have installed the google search and Google Now Launcher so it looks more like my long lost Nexus 5. The thing I want to comment most on is the battery life. I'm no power user, so there's not a ton of screen on time. However, the battery lasted me nearly a week at one point.

I commonly charge it every 3 to 4 days. If you have any questions about this ROM in particular, fire away.

I love flashing ROMs and in that regard I'm pretty disappointed with the current state of S5 ROMs. I need more unified ROMs! Get me a SlimROM that has functioning GPS and camera and I'm set. EDIT: I'm on a T-Mobile S5. That's a good question that's kind of hard to answer! So there's two types of ROMs for this phone. There's the TouchWiz (TW) ROMs and the unified (AOSP/AOKP/etc.) ROMs.

I'll address them separately. First, the TouchWiz ROMs are based on what we already had, Samsung's TouchWiz Launcher. These are inherently more stable because they can incorporate the stock components natively (I think is how you might say it). For example, most unified ROMs don't support the camera or GPS because they have to build or scavenge those from scratch or other ROMs, respectively. I find TW ROMs are typically just debloated stock ROMs. I don't need SVoice or SMemo or SHealth.just get me an OS and the Google Apps (Gapps).

With TW ROMs you'll still get the Samsung experience, if you will. Like when you call someone and it makes a noise when it connects.stock Samsung stuff. The TW ROMs out there for the S5 are mostly just smaller. I think Xtrestolite is 517MB vs 1. Lenovo 3000h Desktop Drivers on this page. 2GB+ for the stock TW ROM. Unified ROMs, on the other hand, are based on the vanilla Android builds (I'm pretty sure). They can be themed any which way. Some have things like PIE controls, some are extremely debloated.it's really a pick what you want and look for it kind of landscape.
